Import Apple Reminders

Pinwork can import selected Apple Reminders lists into Pinwork.

This is a one-way import. Pinwork reads the Reminders lists you choose, creates Pinwork projects and tasks from them, and does not change Apple Reminders.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Integrations.
  3. Choose Import from Apple Reminders.
  4. Allow Reminders access when prompted.
  5. Select the Reminders lists you want to import.
  6. Review the preview.
  7. Choose Import.

Depending on your device and Settings layout, the import opens as either a page or a dialog.

Each selected Reminders list becomes a Pinwork project with the same name.

If a Pinwork project with that name already exists, Pinwork reuses it instead of creating another project.

When Pinwork creates a new project from a Reminders list, it also uses that list’s color for the new project.

Imported reminders become Pinwork tasks inside the matching project.

Pinwork imports the main task information that maps cleanly to Pinwork fields:

  • title
  • notes
  • start date as When
  • due date as Deadline
  • completed state, if completed reminders are included
  • completion date, when available
  • simple recurrence patterns, when Pinwork can map them

Completed reminders are skipped by default. Turn on Include completed reminders if you want completed Apple Reminders to import as completed Pinwork tasks.

Some Apple Reminders recurrence patterns are more complex than Pinwork can map exactly. When that happens, Pinwork imports the task and adds a review note instead of silently changing the recurrence.

The preview updates after you select lists or change the completed-reminders option.

The preview shows how many reminders can be imported from the selected lists. If there are no new reminders to import, the selected reminders may already exist in Pinwork or may be completed while completed reminders are turned off.

Pinwork records Apple Reminders import identifiers on imported tasks. If you run the import again later, reminders that were already imported are skipped instead of duplicated.

Pinwork does not:

  • change Apple Reminders
  • delete Apple Reminders
  • complete Apple Reminders
  • keep Apple Reminders and Pinwork in two-way sync
  • copy every Apple Reminders-only setting or metadata field
  • import from Apple Reminders on Apple Watch

After import, the new tasks are normal Pinwork tasks. Editing them in Pinwork does not update the original reminders in Apple Reminders.

Pinwork reads Reminders only for this import.

Imported tasks are stored the same way as other Pinwork tasks: locally on your device, with private iCloud sync when iCloud is available.

See Sync and privacy for how Pinwork stores and syncs task data.

Check these first:

  • Reminders access is enabled for Pinwork in system Settings.
  • The Reminders lists exist in the Apple Reminders app on this device.
  • iCloud Reminders has finished syncing to this device, if the lists live in iCloud.

If access was denied, enable Reminders access in system Settings, then open the import again.
