Defer and snooze

Use Defer when the plan changes. Use Snooze when the task should stay scheduled for the same day but disappear until later.

The difference matters:

  • Defer changes the task’s When date.
  • Snooze leaves the When date alone and hides the task temporarily.

On iPhone and iPad, a leading swipe action can move a task to tomorrow.

This changes the task’s When date to tomorrow. If the task no longer belongs in the current list, it can leave that list after the change.

The action is undoable when undo is available in the current session.

On iPhone, the Schedule swipe action opens the Schedule Task sheet.

The sheet includes a natural-language field, a compact preset row, and date and time controls.

Use the natural-language field for entries such as:

Friday 2pm

Common presets include:

  • Tomorrow
  • Next Week
  • This Weekend
  • Next Month

Choosing a date changes the task’s When date.

The task context menu includes Defer on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Smart suggestions adapt to the current day and time. The menu is augmented to include useful options such as:

  • This Afternoon when it is still useful
  • Tomorrow
  • Next Monday
  • Pick Custom Date

If This Afternoon is no longer useful, Pinwork can offer a later fallback such as tomorrow afternoon.

Use Pick Custom Date when the preset options are not right.

Custom date selection updates the task’s When date. If the current view no longer matches the task, the task may move out of the list.

Use Snooze when a task belongs on your current plan but you do not want to see it again until a later time.

Snooze options include:

  • Until Tonight, 6:00 PM, when that is still in the future
  • Tomorrow Morning, 9:00 AM
  • Tomorrow Afternoon, 2:00 PM

Snooze sets snoozeUntil and temporarily hides the task. It does not change the task’s When date.

When the snooze time passes, the task can appear again in the appropriate list.

Normal snooze actions are undoable from the task list. The automatic return after snooze expiration does not create a separate undo action.

Apple Watch task detail actions include Today and Tomorrow for scheduling when access is active.

The Watch Tomorrow action preserves explicit time when deferring a time-specific task. The resulting schedule on iPhone uses tomorrow at the day level.

Apple Watch task details do not include a Snooze button.

Defer and snooze change task state, so they are blocked when access is locked.

If you try to defer or snooze while access is locked, Pinwork opens the access screen instead of changing the task.
