GTD mode
GTD mode is optional.
Turn it on when you want Pinwork to show Waiting For, Someday/Maybe, Review, GTD projects, and Next Actions. Leave it off if you prefer a simpler task workflow.
What GTD mode adds
Section titled “What GTD mode adds”When GTD mode is enabled, Pinwork adds:
- Waiting For
- Someday/Maybe
- Review
- Waiting and Someday/Maybe status choices
- GTD project controls
- Next Action tools
On iPhone, GTD destinations appear in Browse.
On iPad and Mac, they appear in the sidebar’s GTD section.
Turn GTD mode on
Section titled “Turn GTD mode on”Open Settings and find the Behavior or Workflow section.
Enable GTD Mode.
After enabling it, GTD destinations and status choices become available in the app navigation, task menus, batch status menus, floating action bars, task menu commands, and focused keyboard actions where supported.
Turn GTD mode off
Section titled “Turn GTD mode off”If no tasks are Waiting or Someday/Maybe, turning GTD mode off hides the GTD surfaces and GTD-specific status choices.
If Waiting or Someday/Maybe tasks exist, Pinwork asks what to do with them.
You can:
- keep Waiting and Someday/Maybe tasks as they are
- move Waiting and Someday/Maybe tasks to Not Started
Keeping leaves those task statuses intact and changes only visibility.
Moving changes all Waiting and Someday/Maybe tasks to Not Started before the setting changes.
Waiting For
Section titled “Waiting For”Waiting For is for tasks blocked by someone or something else.
Moving a task to Waiting clears its Next Action flag and hides it from Today by default. Waiting tasks remain in the Waiting For list even when deferred or rescheduled because the list is status-based.
Someday/Maybe
Section titled “Someday/Maybe”Someday/Maybe is for ideas and possible future work.
Moving a task to Someday/Maybe:
- clears its Next Action flag
- clears its When date
- clears calendar link metadata
- removes recurrence
- clears rollover state
GTD projects and Next Actions
Section titled “GTD projects and Next Actions”A project can be marked as a GTD project.
That project flag is independent from the project lifecycle status. A project can be Active or On Hold and also be marked as a GTD project.
Once a project is marked as a GTD project, you can choose one Next Action.
A Next Action must belong to that project and must not be Waiting, Done, or Canceled.
Review
Section titled “Review”Review is a guided check of:
- Clear Inbox
- Projects Need Next?
- Waiting For
- Someday/Maybe
Review completion is based on the current state of your Inbox, GTD projects, Waiting For, and Someday/Maybe lists.
