Learn Pinwork starter project

After the first-run guide, Pinwork can create an optional pinned project named Learn Pinwork.

The project is there to help new users discover core features inside the real app.

When it is created

The starter project is created after the current first-run guide completes and the app has a pending starter project request.

It is created or migrated as a pinned project.

Replaying the first-run guide does not request a new starter project.

What it teaches

The current starter project contains seven tasks:

Capture a task in one sentence shows how a natural-language sentence can carry a date, time, estimate, and tag while leaving a clean task title.
Plan with When and Deadline explains why the date you plan to work and the date you must finish stay separate.
Repeat without calendar clutter explains Pinwork’s single-task recurrence model.
Capture from Apple devices points to Quick Add, the iPhone Action Button, Siri and Shortcuts, widgets, the Mac menu bar and shortcut, and Apple Watch dictation.
Connect Calendar and bring in Reminders explains linked Calendar events, automatic scheduling, and non-destructive Reminders import.
Stay focused when plans change distinguishes snoozing from deferring and points to Today, Upcoming, Inbox, filters, and sorting.
Your tasks, your devices explains offline use, private iCloud sync, and access across supported devices with one purchase. Its checklist also covers projects, notes, checklists, batch actions, Search, Spotlight, Mac shortcuts, AppleScript, and cleanup.

It is meant to be used directly in the app, not read as a separate tutorial.

Natural-language metadata commands currently use English grammar. Task titles and the rest of the interface can still use any supported language.

It is optional

The project note says it is optional and can be deleted when done.

You can complete the starter tasks, edit them, ignore them, unpin the project, or delete the project when it is no longer useful.

When Pinwork updates the starter project, untouched tasks from the previous version can be replaced by the current guide. Tasks you edited or completed are kept.

Deleting the starter project

Deleting any project in Pinwork deletes the project and all tasks assigned to it.

That applies to Learn Pinwork too.

If you only want to keep a starter task but remove it from the project, remove the project assignment from that task instead of deleting the project.

Existing users

The automatic first-run guide can suppress itself when an existing synced or paid account already has tasks or restored Pro access.

That avoids replaying beginner setup for an existing account on a fresh device.
