Focus sessions
Focus sessions connect a timer to the task you are working on.
When a focus session is active, Pinwork can show the session in the app and on supported system surfaces such as Live Activities, Dynamic Island, Lock Screen, and Apple Watch Smart Stack.
Start a focus session
Section titled “Start a focus session”Open a task’s context menu and use Start Focus where the action is available.
The active task menu can include Start Focus on iOS task surfaces. Opening the context menu does not change the task. The focus action starts the session for the selected task.
If access is locked, mutation paths are blocked and Pinwork opens the access screen instead of changing task data.
Complete the focused task
Section titled “Complete the focused task”Completing a task that has an active focus session ends the focus session for that task.
The task then follows normal completion behavior:
- status becomes Done
- completion time is recorded
- completion visibility follows your completion behavior setting
- a recurring task can create the next occurrence when another occurrence is allowed
Completion uses the normal task completion path and undo behavior where that path is available.
Live Activity surfaces
Section titled “Live Activity surfaces”When a focus session is active, Pinwork can show a Live Activity on:
- Dynamic Island
- Lock Screen
- Apple Watch Smart Stack
The Live Activity can show focus timer state outside the app. Expanded Dynamic Island and Lock Screen controls can pause, resume, and complete the focus session.
Tapping non-button areas opens the focus session in Pinwork with a focus deep link.
Complete from Live Activity
Section titled “Complete from Live Activity”Completing from the Live Activity writes pending completion state for the main app to finish.
Live Activity controls do not provide a separate undo control. If you need to reverse the completion, reopen the task from the app where available.
If access is locked, pending Live Activity focus completion is blocked.
Focus from Apple Watch
Section titled “Focus from Apple Watch”When an iPhone focus session is active, the Watch can show the session and control it.
The Watch focus timer can show:
- timer
- task title
- project
- pause or resume
- complete
Watch focus controls update optimistically and send the action to iPhone. If no confirming iPhone update arrives within 8 seconds, the Watch reverts the optimistic state.
Completing from Watch sends the action to iPhone, where the active focus session ends and the task is marked complete.
To reverse a Watch completion, reopen the completed task from the app where available.
Deep links
Section titled “Deep links”Focus links can open the active focus timer for a task.
The guide keeps detailed URL syntax in Deep links. Use that page when you are wiring Pinwork into automation tools.
