Focus from Apple Watch
Apple Watch can show and control an active Pinwork focus session started from iPhone.
The Watch receives focus session state from iPhone and sends control actions back through WatchConnectivity.
Open the Watch focus timer
Section titled “Open the Watch focus timer”Start a focus session from a task on iPhone.
When the session state reaches Apple Watch, the Watch can show the focus timer with task context.
The Watch focus timer can show:
- timer
- task title
- project
- pause or resume
- complete
Pause and resume
Section titled “Pause and resume”Use Watch controls to pause or resume the active focus session.
The Watch updates optimistically so the interface responds immediately, then waits for iPhone to confirm the state.
If no confirming update arrives within about 8 seconds, the Watch reverts the optimistic state.
Complete the focused task
Section titled “Complete the focused task”Use Complete on Watch to finish the focused task.
The Watch sends the action to iPhone. On iPhone, the active focus session ends and the task is marked complete.
To reverse a Watch completion, reopen the completed task from the app where available.
If iPhone is unreachable
Section titled “If iPhone is unreachable”If iPhone is not reachable, Watch focus controls may not confirm.
Keep iPhone and Apple Watch near each other, open Pinwork on iPhone, then open Pinwork on Watch again.
If the Watch reverts a pause, resume, or complete action, check the iPhone app state before trying again.
Smart Stack and Live Activities
Section titled “Smart Stack and Live Activities”Focus sessions can also appear through Live Activity surfaces such as Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and Apple Watch Smart Stack.
The Watch app focus timer and Smart Stack display both depend on session state reaching the Watch.
