Languages and localization

Pinwork follows the language selected for the app in Apple system settings. There is no separate language picker inside Pinwork.

The interface is available in:

English
British English
German
Spanish
French
Italian
Japanese
Brazilian Portuguese
Simplified Chinese

English is used as the fallback if the selected language is not available.

Change the language on iPhone or iPad

Open Settings.
Open Apps, then Pinwork.
Choose Language or Preferred Language.
Select a supported language.

If the language option is not shown, add another supported language under Settings > General > Language & Region, then return to Pinwork’s settings.

iOS or iPadOS may relaunch Pinwork after the change. Reopen the app if the interface does not update immediately.

Change the language on Mac

Open System Settings.
Choose General > Language & Region.
Under Applications, add Pinwork or select its existing entry.
Choose a supported language.
Quit and reopen Pinwork if macOS asks you to do so.

This changes Pinwork without requiring you to change the language used by every app on your Mac.

Apple Watch

Pinwork on Apple Watch follows the language selected for Pinwork on the paired iPhone. If the Watch interface still shows the previous language, close and reopen the Watch app after changing the iPhone setting.

What changes with the interface language

The selected language applies to Pinwork-owned interface text, including:

navigation, buttons, menus, labels, and settings
status, scheduling, recurrence, and task-action text
Pinwork widgets, controls, notifications, and supported system extensions
Siri and Shortcuts metadata supplied by Pinwork
the first-run guide and the optional Learn Pinwork project

Pinwork can update untouched tutorial content when the app language changes. If you edited a tutorial task, project, tag, note, or checklist item yourself, Pinwork preserves your version rather than replacing it with a translation.

Some system surfaces refresh on their own schedule. If a widget or shortcut still shows the previous language, reopen Pinwork and refresh or re-add that surface.

What Pinwork does not translate

Pinwork never translates content you create. Task titles, notes, projects, tags, and checklist items stay exactly as you wrote them.

Changing the interface language also does not change:

your tasks or their sync state
dates, deadlines, recurrence rules, or task relationships
deep-link fields and URL syntax
AppleScript commands
automation protocol values

The interface language is a display preference. Your task data continues to sync through iCloud in the same way.

Natural-language commands use English

The Pinwork interface can use any supported language, but natural-language metadata commands currently use English grammar.

For example, this remains an executable command in every interface language:

Review the draft tomorrow at 2pm #work

The task title itself can be written in any language. Only command phrases used to extract dates, times, tags, projects, recurrence, and other metadata need to follow the supported English syntax.

Different languages on different devices

Each device can display Pinwork in its own language. For example, Pinwork can use German on an iPhone and English on a Mac while both devices sync the same tasks.

Because Pinwork does not translate user content, your task titles and notes look the same on every device unless you edit them.

Troubleshooting

If Pinwork does not change language:

Confirm that the language is listed among your device’s preferred languages.
Check the language selected specifically for Pinwork.
Quit and reopen Pinwork.
On Apple Watch, confirm the paired iPhone uses the intended Pinwork language, then reopen the Watch app.

If only a widget or system surface still uses the previous language, open the main app once and allow the system surface to refresh.
