Navigation by device

Pinwork uses different navigation layouts on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch.

The same core areas are available, but their location changes with the device and screen size.

On iPhone and compact iPad layouts, Pinwork uses bottom tabs.

Main tabs include:

  • Today
  • Upcoming
  • Inbox
  • Browse
  • Search

Newer iOS versions can use a floating add button overlay. Older iOS versions can show an Add tab that opens task creation.

Browse contains secondary destinations such as:

  • Projects
  • Tags
  • All Tasks
  • Archive
  • Settings
  • GTD destinations when GTD mode is enabled

Use Browse when you are looking for something that is not one of the main daily tabs.

On regular iPad layouts, Pinwork uses a sidebar and detail layout.

The sidebar can show:

  • Today
  • Upcoming
  • Inbox
  • Organize
  • System
  • pinned projects
  • pinned tags
  • GTD section when GTD mode is enabled

Organize contains Projects, Tags, and All Tasks.

System contains Archive and Settings.

Mac uses the sidebar and detail layout too.

In narrow windows, Pinwork can use an overflow navigation menu with the same destinations.

Mac also supports detached task and project windows where the system supports multiple scenes.

Apple Watch focuses on three lists:

  • Today
  • Inbox
  • Upcoming

The Watch app is optimized for capture, quick review, completion, scheduling, and focus controls.

Use iPhone, iPad, or Mac for full project, tag, settings, and large-detail workflows.

On iPhone and compact iPad, Search is a main tab and Settings is in Browse.

On regular iPad and Mac, Settings appears in the System section of the sidebar.

On Mac, command palette and keyboard shortcuts can also open Search and Settings.

Pinned projects and pinned tags can appear as their own sidebar sections on iPad and Mac.

On iPhone, use Browse to reach Projects and Tags.

When GTD mode is enabled, Pinwork adds:

  • Waiting For
  • Someday/Maybe
  • Review

On iPhone, these appear in Browse.

On iPad and Mac, they appear in the sidebar’s GTD section.
