Live Activities and Dynamic Island

Live Activities keep an active focus session visible outside Pinwork.

When a focus session is running, Pinwork can show focus state on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island, and Apple Watch Smart Stack where the system supports it.

Start a Live Activity

Start a focus session from a task in Pinwork.

The Live Activity is tied to the active focus session. It can show the timer and task context while you work outside the app.

If Live Activities are disabled in system settings, Pinwork cannot show the activity outside the app.

Lock Screen view

On iPhone, the Lock Screen Live Activity can show the focus timer and task context.

Supported controls can pause, resume, or complete the focus session.

Tapping non-button areas opens Pinwork back to the focus session.

Dynamic Island

On supported iPhone models, Dynamic Island can show compact focus state while the session is active.

Expanded Dynamic Island controls can pause, resume, and complete the focus session.

Complete from Live Activity

Completing from the Live Activity writes pending completion state for the main app to finish.

When the main app processes the action, the active focus session ends and the task is marked complete.

Live Activity controls do not provide a separate undo control. If completion needs to be reversed, reopen the task from the app where available.

Apple Watch Smart Stack

When focus state is available on Apple Watch, Smart Stack can show the active session.

The Watch focus timer can also show timer state, task title, project, pause or resume, and complete controls.

Watch controls update optimistically and wait for iPhone confirmation.

If the Live Activity looks stale

If the activity shows outdated state:

Open Pinwork and check whether the focus session is still active.
Confirm Live Activities are enabled in system settings.
Confirm access is active.
Check whether the task was completed from another surface such as Watch.
Restart Pinwork if the activity does not match the app state.

If access is locked, mutation controls are blocked until access is restored.
