Mac menu bar
On Mac, the Pinwork menu bar item lets you capture tasks and check Today or Inbox without opening the main window first.
It is designed for quick access, not as a full replacement for the main app.
Enable the menu bar item
Section titled “Enable the menu bar item”Open Pinwork Settings on Mac and enable the menu bar item.
After it is enabled, Pinwork appears in the macOS menu bar.
Quick Add from the menu bar
Section titled “Quick Add from the menu bar”Use menu bar Quick Add to capture a task quickly.
Menu bar Quick Add uses Pinwork’s capture behavior for the Mac menu bar surface. Use the main app when you need a full task detail review, project editing, or larger notes.
Today and Inbox
Section titled “Today and Inbox”The menu bar panel can show:
- up to five visible Today tasks
- up to five visible Inbox tasks
- overflow links
Today task visibility follows your completion behavior setting. Inbox always hides completed tasks in the menu bar.
Complete and reopen
Section titled “Complete and reopen”Rows in the menu bar panel can complete or reopen tasks.
These actions mutate task data. If access is locked, Pinwork opens the access screen instead of changing the task.
Open Pinwork destinations
Section titled “Open Pinwork destinations”Menu bar navigation buttons can open:
- Today
- Inbox
- Projects
- All Tasks
Use these when you start from the menu bar but need the full app.
Menu bar versus global quick entry
Section titled “Menu bar versus global quick entry”The menu bar item is a visible panel in the macOS menu bar.
Global quick entry is a keyboard-driven capture path. Use the menu bar when you want to see Today or Inbox at the same time. Use quick entry when you only want fast capture from the keyboard.
Access lock behavior
Section titled “Access lock behavior”When access is locked, viewing can remain available, but menu bar actions that create, complete, reopen, or otherwise change tasks are blocked.
